Hey Everyone I put a copy of Home up on my “Ning” page. Chigty check it!
Im chickity-checking……likity-liking. Very early British-invasion sounding (early-who)…well the first half anyway.
gotta be honest though….I coulda used a little more cowbell
Marko, what is a “Ning” page and how can I find yours?
I promise I won’t spill any beer on you if you help me figure this out.
I must be computer illiterate or something??
Here it is. There’s a link in the top right to “Sign Up”.
Just put “Free” from the Drum School Up. This is my Fave of the new songs right now. Enjoy!
So those songs are just some of what I am talking about. music and taste are all a matter of opinion, but my opinion is that those songs don’t go anywhere, lots of noodle slide guitar and mellow slurry vocals from RL. just not my bag. I don’t mean any disrespect, he is a cool guy but the sound has changed and change is not always bad, but not always good either. my opinion Skiff and Jesse era the best!!! Just my opinion. listen to 2003 Meltdown compare to 2007 then get back to me.
Don and Jesse together made the 2003 sound unique. RL is a good guitar player. He is an average at best vocalist and should be strictly a back up singer.
he is adding a ton of new song writing and a ton of energy.
There is NO slide guitar anywhere in those two songs
Of course Don too. I was thinking last night about my comment and I really don’t want to be a jerk or offensive. Just sharing my opinion, and that is all I have is an opinion. I would just rather listen to Prince or James Brown than Phil and Phreinds or the Allman Brothers, Not that I don’t throw Eat a Peach or American Beauty on every once in a while. As far as the slide guitar just a generality comment, not a specific critique of those two particular songs.
I heart slide guitar!
Personally I dont hear any noodly-Phil-style sound from them, but more rockin in your face, but one thing we all know, is that everyone doesnt agree on everything, and it would be boring if we did.
gerry—check out the lee boys, saw them at Langerado and was blown away. Also The Bridge, who recently played with Acorn Project in seattle are the shizzle
This band has sooo many incarnations. Personally my favorite was Zach and Sabu ala Meltdown 06 and the following year. I agree its a lot different band no and it took me awhile to adjust to RL being in the band, but now I am lovin it! RL has really improved and I like how he fits. I would love to see a Flowmotion All-Stars tour with Jesse, Sabu, RL,and Zach all taking turns on stage!! That would be cool.
The best lineup for the band was Don, Scott, Bob, Jesse and Zach.
The other personal fave is Coulby, Jesse, Beau, and Dan. That was what got me hooked. Maybe it was a simpler time but those times were amazing.
There were probably like 5 shows ever that had Don and Zach on the stage at the same time.
I still say this band has never sounded better, or more diverse. Scott, Bob, RL and Josh have all contributed new songs in the last year that have, imo really diversified the music and catalog and sound. Plus RL and Josh are feeding of each other like a two headed beast.
The current lineup of Flowmotion is still by far my favorite band.
I do enjoy the energy and guitar sound that RL brings. I like Josh’s vocals so much that I am kind of disappointed when he is not doing the lead singing.
I will miss Sabu as he is a great player and person. I am excited to hear Jesse again as he was at one point the star of the show in my opinion.
Anyway we all love the sound and the band for different reasons and we would not be on this forum if we were not fans.
My own two cents; 2001-2005ish times were simpler yet the music was way more diverse. Josh, Jesse and Don keeping the funk rocking was where it was at for me. Not just friends but a great band. its cool to see what/when others enjoyed most. see you all at Meltdown!
